Monday 21st July

We are looking forward to welcoming you to The Dragon Café on Monday 21st July.

The Dragon Café will be in person at The Crypt at St Peters Church.

11am: Doors Open

Come on and join us for light refreshments, hot and cold drinks and healthy snacks available.

11:15am – 12:45pm: Creative Writing with Wordsmiths

In this fun workshop, attendees are guided through structured writing activities and games to enable them to create and share a mixture of fictional and true stories based on their own experiences.

The group setting allows each person to firstly build confidence by sharing work that they have created from nothing, and secondly to build empathy towards other people in their community by hearing their stories in their words. The goal is to enable a creative way to communicate and to understand thoughts and ideas whilst having fun.

1pm – 2:30pm:  Southwark Playhouse at The Dragon Café.

We are very pleased to continue our series of sessions being facilitated by The Southwark Playhouse at The Dragon Café. If you are interested in any area of theatre from writing, improvisation, acting, voice work, theatre devising, and performance then these sessions are definitely for you.

2:30pm: Food served:
This week we will be continuing with the MFC menu. Expect lots of fresh and healthy options, including an assortment of salads, fruit, fresh breads, olives, finger foods, and much more.

3pm – 4:30pm: Sculpting Small Creatures: A Clay Workshop with Vivi Gao

Join artist Vivi Gao for a playful and grounding workshop where we’ll create small animal-shaped holders using air-dry clay. These whimsical yet functional pieces invite both imagination and care. The theme centres around crafting small companions that can hold your everyday treasures, but you’re equally welcome to follow your own ideas and sculpt freely!

This workshop is open to all, whether you’re completely new to clay or have worked with it before. You’ll have the chance to bring your creation to life with acrylic paint. We encourage sensory connection and self-reflection through touch, texture, and play. Each dent, press, or fingerprint becomes part of your piece — a quiet reminder of your presence and a reflection of your creative process. You are welcome to bring any small personal item to press into the clay: a piece of jewellery, a key, a coin, and leave your own mark.

4:45pm – 5:45pm: Singing Group

In this session, participants are invited to come together in celebration of the positive impact of singing and the voice. This session, facilitated by our singing lead Vivien Ellis, will be an energy filled journey through a mix of singing and vocal styles. From sea shanties to old English chants, choral favourites written by the singing group and some improvised rounds and soundscapes. There is something in this session for everyone.

All are welcome and we look forward to welcoming you to The Crypt at St Peters. See you on Monday!
