Southwark’s Hidden History – An Online Ballad Walk with Vivien Ellis.
Join us online this Bank holiday Monday for a Ballad walk around Southwark from the comfort of your own home. This session is the online culmination of many visits to the archives of Southwark and in person sessions at the Dragon Café, where alongside Vivien, patrons of the Dragon Café have excavated a trove of hidden stories and forgotten histories and songs. Vivien will be taking us on a musical tour though the hidden black history of Southwark, Crossbones Graveyard, Workhouses, and the industries of Southwark, including Breweries, Leather, Printing - and much more.
The session opens for participants to gather at 12:45pm and the Online “Walk” itself will begin at 1pm and will last for 1 hour. This enables participants half an hour at the end of the session to ask any questions about the History of Southwark Ballads shared in this session and to further explore this hidden cultural heritag
