Wednesday 4th November.
We look forward to welcoming you to our eclectic mix of in-person sessions.
On Wednesday, 4th November, MFC brings you the Dragon Café in the City project in collaboration with Shoe Lane Library and the City of London.
Welcome back: Draw. Embroider. Taste. Listen. Relax…
12pm (60mins): Drawing
In this workshop, Diogo Pimentão invites participants to work with graphite, paper and the room itself, loosening what drawing is expected to be and finding what else it might become. No previous experience is needed.
In person at Shoe Lane Library.
1pm (60mins): Cross-Stitch Workshop
Cross-stitch is perfect for absolute beginners and mindful crafters alike, with no prior textile experience needed and an all-in-one take-home kit included. Novices can hopefully finish a beautiful small project in one sitting, or take their materials home to complete it, while multi-tiered patterns will challenge more intermediate embroiderers.
In person at Shoe Lane Library.
2:30pm (90mins): Relax & Create: Drop In
Drop by for this self-led sociable session. Origami, Lego, Chess, Painting and more. Bring your own crochet, knitting or embroidery in progress, or board games.
In person at Shoe Lane Library. No booking needed.
4pm (60mins): Winter Wellness Oxymel
In this hands-on hour with Cherrelle of Omolara Herbal, you’ll make a traditional winter oxymel, a herbal preparation of honey and vinegar. You’ll learn about supportive herbs for autumn and winter, blend your own jar to steep at home, and taste a ready-made batch. Everyone leaves with their own oxymel and simple ways to bring seasonal herbal practice into the colder months.
In person at Shoe Lane Library.
6pm (60mins): Harp for Health
Chilled autumn’s evening of relaxed harp music with harpist Mark Levin. Enjoy soft sounds and calming compositions, bringing relaxation to the end of your day. Mark is a contemporary style harpist offering laid back sets, all beautifully arranged and re-imagined for a 29 string harp. Mark holds multiple pieces of music in healthcare hospital residencies around London, and live credits also range from solo sets at Glastonbury Festival to playing for King Charles in the VIP area of the Epsom Derby.
