On Wednesday, 21st January, MFC brings you the Dragon Café in the City project in collaboration with Shoe Lane Library and the City of London.  

Keep Warm and: Paint. Sew. Relax…


12:30pm (60 mins): Paint the Night Sky: Oil Pastels

Use oil pastels on canvas boards to create pictures inspired by the Winter Night Sky.

Chat with City of London Air Team to find out about ‘Clean Air Night’ highlighting the importance of reducing air pollution, especially during colder months. Materials provided.

2pm (60 mins): Draught Excluders

Keep out chilly winter air by making your own draught excluder. Using upcycled clothes, stuff, then decorate with fabric scraps. Good for the planet and great to keep cosy. With designer Ana Westhead. Materials provided. Feel free to bring your own bits & bobs to decorate it.

3pm (90 mins): Relax & Create: Drop In

Stay on to finish your draught excluder; or drop by for this self-led sociable session with Drawing, Lego, Chess. Newspapers. Bring your own handcrafts or board games.

In person at Shoe Lane Library. No booking needed.

5:30pm (45 mins): Breathing Space Meditation

Pause your day with Meditation. Learn techniques to help bring a sense of peace and harmony into your life. With experienced practitioner Shweta O’Shea.  Beginners and those with experience all welcome.

6pm (60 mins): Gong Sound Bath

Soak in the relaxing, sonorous sounds of large gongs, singing bowls & soft percussion to soothe away tensions of the day and calm the mind.  Led by Cathy Eastburn, Sound Therapist & Gong Player. Wear warm, comfy clothes to lie down or sit to bathe in sonorous sound.
