14th - 16th October:
Soulgirl Collective x Mental Fight Club

Soulgirl Collective x Mental Fight Club proudly presents: Reclaiming Black Voices: Standing Firm in Power + Pride—a 3-day special showcase dedicated to honouring the rich legacy, resilience, and creativity of Black communities through the power of music and spoken word.

Guided by the theme “Standing Firm in Power and Pride” this unique celebration invites residents from across the community to experience an array of powerful performances celebrating cultural heritage and amplifying voices of strength. Each day features live music, spoken word, and storytelling that highlight Black history, creativity, and the spirit of unity.

This year, the event takes place at Saint Louie Bakery, resident artisan bakers at the atmospheric Crypt at St Peter's, a historic and inspiring venue, with a strong commitment to Racial Justice, perfectly suited to hosting this powerful celebration. It also offers an exciting new feature: a live mural, inspired by music lyrics and poetry, which will be collectively created throughout the three days. As it unfolds, artists and attendees will contribute to this living visual artwork, capturing shared moments, inspirations, and community pride in real time. This evolving mural becomes a canvas for the community, reflecting the festival’s energy and stories in a dynamic art form.

Hosted by our Mental Fight Club poet and artist in residence, Chrissie Okorie, the festival brings an additional layer of artistic insight and connection to the experience.

This celebration is designed to foster understanding, connection, and participation for people of all ages and the wider community. By spotlighting both established and emerging Black artists, this pop-up event empowers individuals to share in a journey of pride, unity, and creative expression.

Join us at the Crypt at St Peters to celebrate the voices, stories, and talents shaping our community, and help create a lasting piece of art that captures this vibrant moment together. Everyone is welcome to contribute!

All are welcome. Drop-in on one, or all, of the performances.
