Monday 6th October
We are looking forward to welcoming you to The Dragon Café on Monday 6th October.
The Dragon Café will be in person at The Walworth Living Room.
12:30pm – 2pm: Creative Writing with Wordsmiths
In this fun workshop, attendees are guided through structured writing activities and games to enable them to create and share a mixture of fictional and true stories based on their own experiences.
The group setting allows each person to firstly build confidence by sharing work that they have created from nothing, and secondly to build empathy towards other people in their community by hearing their stories in their words. The goal is to enable a creative way to communicate and to understand thoughts and ideas whilst having fun.
2pm: Food served:
This week we will be continuing with the MFC menu. Expect lots of fresh and healthy options, including an assortment of salads, fruit, fresh breads, olives, finger foods, and much more.
Singing Group: 2:30pm – 3:30pm
In this session, participants are invited to come together in celebration of the positive impact of singing and the voice. This session, facilitated by our singing lead Vivien Ellis, will be an energy filled journey through a mix of singing and vocal styles. From sea shanties to old English chants, choral favourites written by the singing group and some improvised rounds and soundscapes. There is something in this session for everyone.
Yoga inspired Stretch with Anja Nikodem: 3:45pm – 4:30pm
Stretch way some of the stresses and tension we may feel at the start of another week. Put the week ahead out of mind as we stretch our backs, necks and shoulders with Anja Nikodem. This session is designed to stretch those tense muscles, boost energy and reenergise you. Come in your usual clothes. No experience necessary.
5:45pm – 7:15pm: An Ecstatic and Open Floor Dance Session led by Flomotion Dance
Let your body lead the way in this liberating Flomotion dance session.
We are invited to bring our awareness very deliberately to our bodies, our breath and to follow our own movement. The facilitation encourages us to move spontaneously and follow movement impulses; that there are no right or wrong movements, that we don’t need to know what we are doing. It is a ticket to bypass judgement, self-criticism and inertia.
Flomotion is a heady mix of relaxation, joy and physical freedom. Practitioner Julia Franks offers us an invitation to immerse ourselves in the free dance ‘space’ with a unique, funky and liberating play list.
