Monday 15th September

We are looking forward to welcoming you to The Dragon Café on Monday 15th September.

The Dragon Café will be in person at The Walworth Living Room.

12:15pm – 1:45pm: Poetry with Emma McGordon

We are extremely happy to welcome back Emma to the Dragon Café for another of her poetry sessions. Emma’s sessions are a fun, engaging and accessible way of exploring writing your own poetry. Emma’s use of free writing and poetic form makes this an ideal workshop for everyone, from beginners with no experience of writing poetry to seasoned writers. Emma is a multi-award-winning writer and performer. Much of her writing and spoken word is semi-autobiographical. Emma takes pride in being close to vulnerability and truth in her work.

2pm: Food served:
This week we will be continuing with the MFC menu. Expect lots of fresh and healthy options, including an assortment of salads, fruit, fresh breads, olives, finger foods, and much more.

2:30pm – 4:30pm: A creative stroll and workshop making  moulds and then plaster casting sculptures and natural objects with artist Wendy Scott.

Join artist Wendy Scott for a creative stroll around some of the streets and green spaces surrounding the venue. We will be collecting materials along the way and then returning to the venue to turn our found object into moulds and then into plaster cast sculptures for decoration

4:30pm – 5:30pm: Singing Group

In this session, participants are invited to come together in celebration of the positive impact of singing and the voice. This session, facilitated by our singing lead Vivien Ellis, will be an energy filled journey through a mix of singing and vocal styles. From sea shanties to old English chants, choral favourites written by the singing group and some improvised rounds and soundscapes. There is something in this session for everyone.

5:45pm – 7:15pm: An Ecstatic and Open Floor Dance Session led by Flomotion Dance

Let your body lead the way in this liberating Flomotion dance session.

We are invited to bring our awareness very deliberately to our bodies, our breath and to follow our own movement. The facilitation encourages us to move spontaneously and follow movement impulses; that there are no right or wrong movements, that we don’t need to know what we are doing. It is a ticket to bypass judgement, self-criticism and inertia.

Flomotion is a heady mix of relaxation, joy and physical freedom. Practitioner Julia Franks offers us an invitation to immerse ourselves in the free dance ‘space’ with a unique, funky and liberating play list.
